About Elizabeth Koontz

Soprano

About: Education

Elizabeth Koontz has been passionate about singing and music since she sang her first church solo at the age of 5. Her voice has been heard in opera houses and concert halls nationwide. Her interpretations of standard and modern classical repertoire have garnered praise from critics such as Opera News, who have described her as a “Strong, Stirring and Agile Soprano,” and “Golden-Voiced.”

After graduating with her Master of Music degree in Voice from Indiana University and enjoying many years of performing as an opera singer across the country, Ms. Koontz settled back in her hometown of Cincinnati, OH, where she lives with her son, Liam, and their dog, Ladybug. Elizabeth teaches private voice and piano lessons in her home studio in the Mariemont area. She has been teaching for over 15 years, and she loves teaching people of all ages and levels in her community.

Before moving back to Cincinnati, Elizabeth was an active performer with orchestras and opera houses nationwide. In the San Francisco Bay Area, she frequently sang with The Bayview Opera House and was a resident artist under the Late Mayor Edwin Lee. She has also sung with The Sacramento Philharmonic Orchestra, The Opera Theater of St. Louis, Central City Opera in Central City, CO, and the Indiana University Opera Theater.

Ms. Koontz regularly sings for official events across the city of Cincinnati and for local churches, such as Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, Hyde Park Community United Methodist, Christ’s Church at Mason, The Indian Hill Church, the Cincinnati Vineyard, State Avenue United Methodist, and Grace United Methodist Church.
